 Fall 2020:

  • Fall courses are now open for registration! Please contact your advisor for clearance.

 Transfer Credit Policy Changes:

  • Effective January 16, 2020, credit will no longer be accepted in transfer from the following organizations:


    • Consortium for International Studies (CIS)
    • Coopersmith
    • Rechtschaffen Institute of Judaic Studies (RIJS)
    • Tor Academy
  • As of February 19, 2020, the AP Exam: Art/Studio Drawing or General Portfolio will no longer be accepted in transfer. The ACE evaluation expired some time ago and the College will no longer accept it in transfer.
  • As of June 1, 2020, Charter Oak State College will no longer accept in transfer FEMA Independent Study (IS) Courses. These courses will also not be accepted in our Credit Registry program. The College will continue to accept the FEMA courses that have been reviewed for credit by ACE. Please note: These are not the same as the FEMA IS courses.

    • Students will  have until 5/1/2020 to take the FEMA IS courses. They will then have until 6/1/2020 to send their transcripts to Charter Oak. No FEMA transcripts with IS courses will be accepted after 6/1/2020.

Note: Students may still open a FEMA Credit Registry until June 1: however, all FEMA transcripts must be received by June 1 as well. No exceptions will be made for transcripts that do not arrive by this deadline

  • Effective July 1, 2020:
    • All courses, programs, or exams offered by alternative educational providers (non-regionally accredited entities) recommended for credit by NCCRS or ACE will not be accepted in transfer unless an agreement with the provider and Charter Oak exists. Students will be limited to a total of 90 degree-applicable credits from non-regionally accredited course providers, even if an agreement is in place.

      • Charter Oak currently has an agreement with the following providers:
        • StaighterLine
        • Saylor
        • Sophia
        • CSM learn
  • The DSST Exam: Substance Abuse will be considered lower level credit. It will no longer be upper level in transfer.

If you wish to take a course as a visiting student, there is no need to complete an application for admission. Simply fill out our Registration Request form. We will then send you your username and password that will allow you to register for a course. The account request will be processed within 24 business hours.

Once enrolled, ALL communications will be sent your Charter Oak Email  account only. Therefore, we highly encourage you to set up the forwarding feature listed below.

How to forward your email to another account

Please Note: Your Charter Oak email may contain sensitive information related to your education (.i.e. student bill and academic progress); therefore, you should be mindful of where you re-route the emails to be sent.

  1. Log into your email at
  2. Open Outlook
  3. Click the Settings icon (Gear)

  4. Type “forward” in the search bar and click “Forwarding”
  5. Click ‘Start Forwarding”, enter your email address and ‘Save’.
